Article ID: 51071 - Last Review: May 17, 2013

PROBLEM

ActiveX error 429 and operation failed errors are received in Outlook when using the Multimedia Contact Center Client plug-in.

SYMPTOMS

An "Operation Failed" error is encountered when starting Outlook.  The Multimedia Outlook plug-in may also produce an "ActiveX error 429" error.

CAUSE

This problem may be caused by improperly installed Outlook or incompatible add-ins.

RESOLUTION

Delete the Extend.dat File
The Extend.dat file is a cache of Outlook add-ins that are selected in the Add-In Manager. If you have problems with extensions, you can delete this file and Outlook will create a new Extend.dat file as needed.

To delete the Extend.dat file, follow these steps:

  1. Quit Outlook.
  2. Click Start=>Find=>Files or Folders.
  3. In the Named box, type Extend.dat, and click to select Include subfolders.
  4. In the Look in list, click to select My Computer, and click Find Now.
  5. In the search results, right-click the file name, and then click Delete.

    NOTE: The following folders are the default location for the Extend.dat file:

    Windows XP - C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook
    Windows 7 - C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook

Register the OCX files

  1. Open Command Prompt (Start=>All Programs=>Accessories=>Command Prompt)
  2. Type cd\program files\prairiefyre software inc\ccm\applications\OutlookPlugin and press Enter
  3. Type the following commands and press Enter after each line:
    regsvr32 ImgX61.ocx
    regsvr32 PF6150Util.ocx
    regsvr32 PFCyberAED_CustHistory.ocx
    regsvr32 PFCyberAED_OL.ocx
    regsvr32 PFCyberAED_Templates.ocx
    regsvr32 PFCyberchatForm.ocx
    regsvr32 PFCyberFaxViewer.ocx
    regsvr32 VBUSplitter2.ocx
NOTE: If you are running the MCC Plug-On off a Terminal Server connection you will also want to apply the following Microsoft update:
