How to find the SQL database files

Article ID: 51490 - Last Review: , April 24th, 2012

INFORMATION

There will be cases where you need to locate the actual database files for the CCMData and CCMStatisticalData databases. The default location is [InstallDrive]:\Program Files\prairieFyre Software Inc\CCM\Database\ where you will find a .MDF and .LDF file for each database.

NOTE: it will be in \Program Files (x86)\ on a 64 bit operating system.

In a case where the client has put the database files in an alternate location you can find the files by using SQL Management Studio.

1. Open SQL Management Studio from the Start menu under the SQL Server folder.
2. Log into the SQL server
3. Expand the Databases folder and find the CCMData and CCMStatisticalData entries.
4. Right-click on CCMData and choose Properties.
5. On the left, choose the Files section.
6. On the right hand side it will now show both the .MDF and .LDF files for CCMData.  There is a Path field for each showing the path to the individual file.

7. Repeat steps 3 through 6 for CCMStatisticalData to locate those database files.  (usually they will be in the same location as CCMData)
