In SQL 2012, the Database may be written to the default SQL path instead of prairieFyre

Article ID: 51899 - Last Review: April 12, 2013

PROBLEM

After running the configuration wizard, the CCMData and CCMStatisticalData MDF and LDF files are not in the default location

SYMPTOMS

The MDF and LDF are instead written to the default SQL location of [INSTALL DIR]\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL11.SQLEXPRESS2012\MSSQL\DATA\ .

CAUSE

Where SQL 2003 and 2008 both ran the SQL services under the Local System account, SQL 2012 instead runs under a user MSSQL$InstanceName.  This user may not have permissions to write to the prairieFyre folders by default.  If it does not, then SQL will fail over to it's own default location.

RESOLUTION

This is being addressed in our upcoming Atlantic release.

If you encounter issues because of this behavior before our Atlantic release, you can manually migrate the database files using SQL.

APPLIES TO

SQL 2012

Keywords: SQL 2012 database DB MDF LDF location path
